Hello I’m Wyatt
I develop stories. Stories that help people connect with people. I’m currently focused on coaching researchers to better connect with politicians, problem solvers, and citizens. I love coaching people through the content production process. I love new opportunities and storytelling challenges. Here is a little bit about my story–
I currently work in Utah State University’s Office of Research. Long before slinging slide decks for scientists, I was flipping burgers after high school to buy my first camera. I used that camera to produce 2 yearbooks and start a photography business. Income from photographing families and weddings supported me as I studied graphic design and visual art.
USU’s office for Research scooped up my photography skills in 2014. Since then, I have expanded my role beyond photography. I started producing videos and coaching presenters. This work showed me that storytelling was my calling, and lead me to earn a Master’s in Communication.
When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, my research-outreach events were canceled. So, I started working on alternative ways to communicate research. The next day I started interviewing people for a podcast I named INSTEAD. The podcast quickly became my office’s most effective outreach tool. It also reinvented our content production process.
From wedding pictures to a research podcast, the thread that ties my career together is helping people tell their stories. If you have something to say. I'll be standing next to you as we develop your story.
